Drug Free Charlotte County is pleased to announce continued and multi-year funding from The United Way of Charlotte County. These funds, which come from the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners Community Grants. Provided with multi-year funding will provide the opportunity to increase focus on outcomes and allow more opportunities for deeper and richer partnerships. The funds will support the LifeSkills Training® Program in Charlotte County.
The program is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and emotional factors that promote the start of substance use and other risky behaviors. LifeSkills Training® provides teens with the confidence and skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations. Drug Free Charlotte County provides LifeSkills Training® to teens referred through Civil Citation, Charlotte County Public Schools, Teen Court and other community partners. Funds will be used to support an elementary version of the program, as well.
